What is SPAM?

SPAM is any unsolicited email message or the Internet’s version of “junk mail”.  Efanz takes the fight against SPAM very seriously.  We want to do everything within our control to make your online experience enjoyable.  Over 90% of the mail that enters our network is blocked by our SPAM filter and is never seen by our customers.

If Efanz has a blocker, why do I get SPAM?

Those that distribute SPAM are continuously looking for ways to circumvent the filters and it is a daily battle to stay ahead of the latest methods.  With the use of techniques, such as misspelled words or including unrelated content in the message, less than 1% of the SPAM can slip through.

I got on a SPAM list, what do I do to now?

Even with the best precautions, it is possible to get on a SPAM list.  Unfortunately, once your email address is on this list, you will continue to see a large volume of SPAM.  There are two options to help you avoid the annoying process of deleting these messages:

  • Set your personal SPAM filters to a higher level.  See Managing SPAM.
  • Create a second email address and gradually introduce your legitimate contacts to the new address by keeping both active until the original is no longer needed.  See Changing Your Email Address.
What can I do to avoid getting on a SPAM list?

Consider these tips:

  • Do not open email that is from an unknown author.
  • Never respond to SPAM that gives the option to be taken off the list.  This only confirms your address is active and increases the value when they sell it on the market.
  • Do not give out your primary email address on the web.  If you purchase a product, or subscribe to a publication, use a separate address that you do not use on a regular basis.  Keep your primary address for your personal mail.
  • If you do decide to give your address out on a web site, check the privacy statement.  Be sure they offer an “Opt Out” option on receiving additional marketing communications.
  • NEVER purchase a product from a SPAM marketer.  We hope that ultimately, no sales will discourage some companies from using this vehicle.

Note:  Efanz will NEVER sell, rent or willingly expose your email address to parties outside of what is necessary to provide our service.
